Sony has announced that as of September 1st it will be increasing the price of its PlayStation Plus service in the UK.
The price rise will only be for the monthly and three-monthly packages on offer, the yearly subscription price of £39.99 will remain.
The one month package will rise from £5.49 to £5.99 and the three-month package will jump up considerably from £11.99 to £14.99, a 25% increase.
The new pricing structure will likely increase the number of players buying the yearly service as it will offer even more value against the new higher prices.
Though the price changes have been confirmed for the UK, there has been no word on whether American and other countries will see a similar increase.
Sony told TechRadar in a statement:
“We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content.
“From 1st September 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PS Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features.”
