San Diego Comic-Con 2015: New Force Awakens Video

“We aren’t ready to show you scenes from the movie or a new trailer, but we wanted to bring something that was as unique and unexpected as we could.”

Given the anticipation levels going into an event such as Comic-Con, hearing such words from Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams may seem disappointing. However while he didn’t bring a trailer with him to San Diego, what he delivered instead was an incredible behind-the-scenes video that increases hope and excitement just as much as a preview would.

A four-minute clip taken from production on the sequel shows just how determined Abrams and his team are to keep the spirit of the original movies; “real set and practical effects”. We also get shots of the main cast, including original stars Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, as well as newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Interestingly, there are also a couple of scenes of Simon Pegg, who has long been rumoured to be appearing in the film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
