Former WWE Champion Cast for Season 2 of “The Flash”

It seems Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t the only former WWE regular to be joining the DC Comics Universe, with Adam Copeland, better known to WWE fans as Edge, set to appear in season two of The Flash as Atom-Smasher.

In the comics, Atom-Smasher was a member of the Justice League of America and had a prominent partnership with Atom, a character we have already seen pop up in the Arrow/Flash universe. Interestingly though, this take on the character will be very different from what fans expect with Copeland playing a villain in the show.

“One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.”

It has not be confirmed whether this will be a one-off appearance or a multi-episode storyline but given that at San Diego Comic-con last weekend it was announced that the main villain for season 2 would be Zoom, it’s unlikely that Atom-Smasher will be a regular throughout the entire series.

For those not familiar with the WWE, Edge was one of the most popular stars of recent years who sadly had to retire in 2011 due to injury. He’s since become a recurring character on Syfy series “Haven,” among other acting roles.

The Flash season two is scheduled to debut Oct 6 in the US with no confirmed date yet available for UK release.
