It is being reported that Marvel and Sony have taken rather dramatic action to make it clear that you don’t talk about appearing in one of their movies until the ink is dry on the contract – even if it is for the role of Spider-Man.
Jeff Sneider of The Wrap has revealed that Asa Butterfield – the clear favourite to take the role of the webslinger – is no longer in the running following several occasions of the young actor openly talking about his apparently-imminent casting.
With Butterfield no longer under consideration, studio attention has now reportedly turned towards Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz. It is being said that Sony prefer Holland, while Plummer is Marvel’s favorite. Out of those, many believe Lintz may end up with the nod owing to his upcoming appearance in Sony’s Pixels.
Whoever ends up getting the role, they will appear in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
