Jon Bernthal has signed on to be The Punisher in the upcoming second season of Marvel’s Daredevil.
The Netflix exclusive series was previously greenlit for a follow-up season following a well-received debut in April and now Matt Murdock will be joined by one of Marvel’s most popular characters – described as ‘a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results’.
Bernthal is best known for his roles in The Walking Dead and Wolf of Wall Street, and has been highly praised by Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, who said;
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”
The second season of Daredevil will air in 2016, while the first season is still currently streaming on Netflix.
