A Microsoft chief executive has revealed that the upcoming Windows 10 will be the last version of the long-running operating system.
Speaking at Microsoft’s Ignite conference last week, Jerry Nixon explained that while there would not be any further versions of the OS, the platform will continue in the form of “incremental upgrades”. Nixon also promises a “more dynamic and flexible platform” moving forward.
The tech company have yet to announce the release date for Windows 10, though a recent reports claimed that the software will be available in late July. It is expected that the release will come in phases, with PCs getting first treatment to be followed by Xbox and smart devices later.
