Arrow Actress Reveals Show Had to Cut Harley Quinn Storyline

Bosses of Arrow were forced to halt storyline plans they had for Harley Quinn – because of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen in the CW show, told fans at the MCM Expo event in London that a decree from DC Comics ended plans that would have seen Harley appear in the series.

“We had big plans for Harley. But, I guess something came down from DC execs that told us to shut it down. I mean we had that tease with the pigtails and the ARGUS outfit but, we’ll never see it. We would love to [have] Harley in Arrow but it will never happen.”

The character made a brief appearance in season two, sporting blonde pigtails and wearing an A.R.G.U.S. jumpsuit, and although we never saw her face, she was voiced by Tara Strong, who provided vocals for Quinn in the Batman: Arkham video game series.

Margot Robbie will be portraying Harley in Suicide Squad, which releases on 5 August 2016.
