Bloodstained – From the Creator of Castlevania

For a while now we’ve known that former Konami designer – Koji Igarashi, has been up to something. Well it turns out that the father of Castlevania has taken to Kickstarter with his new title Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and he needs your help.

Igarashi is asking for $500,000 on Kickstarter, which he says will not be the game’s entire budget. Should the Kickstarter campaign be a success, he’s said that he’s set up other investments to cover the game’s remaining budget.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night

This 2.5D action-adventure game follows the story of Miriam, a girl with crystals infused in her skin that allow her to summon demons. Her crystal-powers will be upgradeable over the course of the game as players progress. Proudly described as “A gothic, exploration-focused action platformer, designed by one of the godfathers of the genre!” the Kickstarter has until the 12th June to reach its $500,000 goal.

Since leaving Konami in 2013, Igarashi left behind almost a decade of Castlevania work behind prior to the release of Mercury Steam’s panned Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. With Bloodstained, he hopes to create something of a spiritual successor to it in everything but name right alongside Mighty No. 9 developer Inti Creates and former Castlevania composer Michiru Yamane.
