He’s been the Terminator. He’s been the Governor. He’s one of the biggest names in the world. And on March 28, Arnold Schwarzenegger will become a member of the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame.

You would be hard-pressed to find someone in the world who doesn’t know who Arnold Schwarzenegger is. Born in Styria, Austria in 1947 and with a movie career spanning three decades, he is one of the most recognisable faces on the planet. First coming to prominence in 1982’s Conan the Barbarian, Arnie used that as a springboard and just two years later appeared in his most-famous role; Terminator.
More box-office successes followed, such as Commando, Twins, Total Recall, The Running Man and Predator, the last two alongside former WWF star Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura. His career pinnacle came in 1991 with his Terminator sequel, Judgement Day, which brought him worldwide acclaim.
Schwarzenegger finally met with the wrestling world in November 1999, appearing on Smackdown to promote his movie End of Days. Appearing in an in-ring segment with Vince McMahon and then in the main event on commentary, he handled himself well and did what he was there to do. But it was after the main event came the moment that would give the then-WWF that ‘celebrity’ moment they love, with Arnie getting involved in a physical confrontation with Triple H. The clip played on entertainment outlets worldwide, providing the company with priceless mainstream publicity.
It would be fourteen years before Schwarzenegger would next appear on WWE TV, inducting longtime friend Bruno Sammartino into the Hall of Fame in 2013. One year later, he was on Raw promoting his movie Sabotage along with Hulk Hogan and co-star Joe Manganiello.
His appearances for WWE have been few, but when coming with the historical significance and stature that he brings, Arnold Schwarzenegger surely deserves to receive the latest accolade to a career built on them. He dominated box offices and political battlegrounds, and now the Terminator will forever be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame.
