Microsoft have confirmed that anyone using Windows 7 or higher will be entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 10.
Even those who did not pay.
That’s right, those Windows 7 and 8 users who did not pay out for an genuine Microsoft licence will still be able to upgrade their OS when the update comes out later this year.
The news came from Microsoft’s OS boss Terry Myerson, who was speaking at the WinHEC technology conference in China, who said that the plan is to “re-engage” with the hundreds of millions of Windows users in China. It was not made clear whether Microsoft’s new ‘pirates welcome’ approach is just for China or globally.
