Marvel will not be present at this year’s Comic Con, according to James Gunn.
The Guardians of the Galaxy director wrote on Facebook that the studio will not be in attendance at the annual event.
He also later reiterated the statement on his Twitter page, responding to suggestions that he wasn’t telling the truth.

In previous years, Marvel’s appearances at the event has been a major selling point, with last year seeing the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron take the stage, as well as Josh Brolin’s surprise appearance to confirm his casting as Thanos. However with Age of Ultron and Ant Man due for release before the Con and nothing immediate on the horizon, it isn’t a major surprise to learn of the studio’s apparent non-appearance.
Additionally, Marvel held their own event to announce their MCU Phase 3 plans at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood last year, showing that taking over Hall H in San Diego wasn’t a necessity to unveil their films.
