Daredevil on Netflix: The Red Suit Will Be Seen

Anticipation is running high for Marvel’s latest foray into television with Daredevil, however one prevailing thought has been present through all trailers and photos seen so far.

Where is the famous red costume?

Never fear though, as it has been confirmed that Matt Murdock will be donning the red outfit at some point in the series and not just the black duds that he has been seen in so far. Marvel CCO Joe Quesada told Comics Continuum;

“It was a delicate balance, because the stories we’re telling are so real-world. Matt starts out in a homemade outfit that develops slowly. As he starts getting the crap kicked out of him on the streets, he adds padding little by little.”

Costume designer Stephanie Maslansky added that realism had to be adhered to;

“The emphasis was on making sure it looked like Matt had scraped together a uniform rather than a costume, and from what he could readily buy. We wanted something that looked militaristic and functional, but also dramatic and sexy. It was really tricky to make it both be practical and look.”

And Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight confirmed that Daredevil will indeed wear the red suit;

“Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn’t be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun. … The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense.”

Daredevil debuts on Netflix on 10 April.
