Last month we reported that Disney were in early talks to reboot the Indiana Jones franchise and the news coming out of the studio was that Chris Pratt was their first choice for the lead role.
Now Deadline is reporting that legendary Hollywood director Steven Spielberg will be helming the project, provided the script meets his approval.
Spielberg, who directed all of the previous Indy movies with Harrison Ford starring, is reportedly eager to sign up Guardians of the Galaxy star Pratt for a series renewal.
The news will be unsurprising to many given Chris Pratt’s recent rise of Hollywood A-Lister status and the fact that he was the director’s hand-picked choice to be the star of Jurassic World, the upcoming sequel to one of Spielberg’s greatest works, Jurassic Park.
Word is that no script currently exists and until that surfaces we are unlikely to get confirmation from either the director or the actor but if everything fits together then we could be looking at a new version of the swashbuckling archaeologist in the not too distant future.
In the meantime you can see Chris Pratt star in Jurassic World, due for release worldwide on June 12 this year.
