After radio silence for such a long time with only Michael Fassbender officially confirmed for a role, the Assassin’s Creed movie has finally signed up The Dark Knight Rises actress, Marion Cotillarde.
According to Deadline, Cotillard, who played Talia al Ghul in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, has signed on to take a leading role in the adaptation of the hugely successful videogame series alongside Fassbender.
No specific details have been released as to who Cotillard may be playing, though the report does mention that her role is set to recur across multiple films, should the first movie be successful.
This won’t be the first time the two actors have worked together with them having recently finished a project together in Justin Kurzel’s version of Macbeth.
The director will also be in charge of Assassin’s Creed, suggesting that the trio worked well together and have formed a strong creative relationship. Production for Assassin’s Creed is set to begin this autumn with a release scheduled for next year.
Assassin’s Creed is due for release in the US on December 21, 2016 and December 30, 2016 in the UK.
