Tom Hardy has dropped out of DC Comics’ Suicide Squad movie.
The ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actor was due to play Squad leader Rick Flagg, but has now taken the decision to exit the project, with sources citing scheduling issues as the reason.
Filming on Suicide Squad is due to start in April, the same month when Hardy’s Mad Max: Fury Road is released, with the actor looking at worldwide press commitments. He is also in the middle of filming The Revenant, alongside Leonardo Di Caprio.
Warner Bros. have reportedly made overtures to Jake Gyllenhaal to come in and replace Hardy, though there are doubts that the actor will be free to fill the gap, with him currently appearing on Broadway in Constellations. The play is due to end in the middle of March, which would leave Gyllenhaal approximately a month to prepare for Suicide Squad filming.
