Chris Pratt First Choice for New Indiana Jones

According to a report published by Deadline, Disney are making preparations for an Indiana Jones reboot with Chris Pratt as their number one choice to play the title character.

Disney purchased the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount in 2013 and with their other big purchases, Marvel and Star Wars, doing well and bringing in substantial revenue it is reported that Disney have now turned their attention to swashbuckling archaeologist.

The project is still in the very early stages of development but following his 2014 success as Star Lord in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy it is no surprise that Disney wish to bring Chris Pratt in on another one of their big properties.

The role was of course originally made famous by the legendary Harrison Ford who played the character for all four of the movies in the current franchise. Sadly the franchise stalled following a failed attempt to bring the character back to the big screen in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The movie was panned by many critics and fans and as a result a planned fifth movie starring Ford hasn’t come into existence.

Should Pratt take the role then this wouldn’t be his first time taking on the responsibility of bringing a much loved franchise back to the big screen. Later this year he is set to star in the Jurassic Park sequel, Jurassic World and he has also signed on to star in a remake of The Magnificent Seven along with Denzel Washington.

Meanwhile the original Doctor Jones will be returning to another of his best roles at the end of this year as he reprises the character that made him a household name, Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
