Dan Aykroyd has thrown his support behind the newly-announced Ghostbusters.
It was seemingly confirmed yesterday by director Paul Feig that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon would star in an all-female reboot. And Ackroyd, who starred in the original and sequel, has told The Hollywood Reporter that the new cast are “magnificent”.
“The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy.”
“My great grandfather, Dr Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbusters, was a man who empowered women in his day and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business.”
Ghostbusters will be released on 22 July 2016.
