Tom Hardy and Will Smith will head up an all-star cast for Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad film.
Hardy and Smith have signed on as Rick Flagg and Deadshot respectively, with Jared Leto also cast as The Joker. Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn, while Jai Courtney and Cara Delevinge are on board as Boomerang and Enchantress.
Based on the DC comic book, the story will see a team of super villains who given a chance at redemption by the government, with the catch being that the mission offering redemption is likely to see them all meet their deaths.
Jesse Eisenberg is also rumoured to be in negotiations to reprise his role as Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will open several months earlier.
Warner President Greg Silverman has been quoted in the statement announcing the casting;
“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer and is due for release on 5 August 2016.
