Wonder Woman has officially found its director, Michelle MacLaren.
It had been reported that negotiations were taking place with MacLaren being Warner’s number one choice for the directors chair and she has now officially been confirmed by the studio.
MacLaren reportedly beat out competition from Jennifer Kent and Lesli Linka Glatter, while Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven will produce the film.
With a CV including Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and The X-Files the director certainly has the varied experience needed to bring the fan favourite character to the big screen.
We are yet to receive any word on a plot for the movie but it’s said to be set in 1920’s American, where Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman struggles to adapt to a patriarchical society in which women are very much the subordinate sex.
Gabot will however make her debut as Wonder Woman in a supporting role alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill is 2016’s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. How this role will connect to the origin story in a shared DC movie universe is still unknown.
Wonder Woman will open in the US on 23 June 2017, with a UK release date still to be confirmed.
