20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios have officially announced that the long awaited Deadpool movie will be released on 12 February 2016.
Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been expected to star for many years and is still the most likely actor to star in the title role. No casting information has been officially released as of yet.
Tim Miller is set to direct the superhero film with Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel’s Kevin Feige producing.
The announcement follows the leak of test footage back in July which received high praise from the internet community and fans have since taken to social media to express their interest in seeing the movie. Whether that leak has helped Marvel make the decision is yet unknown.
The announcement comes in the same week that the Marvel cinematic universe hit the $7 billion box-office mark from the franchise worldwide.
