San Diego Comic Con 2014: New King Kong Movie Announced

Legendary Pictures have announced Skull Island.

A teaser – catching everyone by surprise – featured jungle landscapes and a lizard-like creature on the wave or a river, culminated with a shot of a cave shaped like a skull, and the final money shot of a roaring King Kong.

Kong was last seen on the big screen in Peter Jackson’s 2005 version, and it seems enough time has passed for the giant ape to return to theatres, and we know exactly when he will return – 4 November 2016.

This news, plus an earlier panel announcement, has led to speculation that Legendary – now owners of King Kong rights – are looking ahead to a possible big-screen battle between Kong and their other monster franchise, Godzilla.
