Marvel have debuted further test footage from Ant-Man.
The film, which will start shooting on August 18, has had it’s fair share of ups and down in recent weeks and months following the withdrawal of director Edgar Wright. Other directors turned down the role, before Peyton Reed stepped in to helm the comic adaption.
Reed, along with the film’s stars Michael Rudd and Michael Douglas, were on stage for Marvel’s panel that also confirmed the casting of Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll as Hope Van Dyne and Darren Cross respectively. As the film has yet to commence shooting, there was no actual footage to show off, but Marvel have plenty of test footage – a large amount of which actually came from Wright before he pulled out of the project.
The clip features a voice-over from Douglas’ scientist Hank Pym, attempting to recruit Rudd’s Scott Lang to his cause against “stupid” superheroes. It then cuts to Lang in the famous suit, running from mysterious chasers. Pym advises Lang that he’ll be able to talk to insects, something that initially fails when he tries to communicate with a flying ant. Pym then instructs Lang to jump, and he begins to fall until one of the swarm of flying ants collects him mid-air and flies off.
Despite the various behind-the-camera issues, Ant-Man is still due to be released on 17 July 2015.
