Apple have announced two new apps for monitoring health as part of the new iOS 8.
HealthKit will track, record and analyse fitness levels across a variety of actions, such as sleep and movement, using the M7 chip first introduced in the iPhone 5S. HealthKit will be used through iOS 8 via a new application called Health. The project will work with companies who already have fitness apps, such as Nike who were heavily mentioned in the presentation.
As well as exercise apps, HealthKit will also work with healthcare providers to give real-time information on patients’ vitals. The Mayo Clinic from Minnesota are alreadt working with Apple to make the software the best possible option for both doctors and patients.
iOS 8 will be available in the Autumn.
