Ant-Man Has a New Director

Marvel have announced Peyton Reed as the new director of Ant-Man.

Reed’s confirmation follows two weeks of drama surrounding the position after Edgar Wright pulled out of the project. Anchorman director Adam McKay rejected Marvel’s offer to replace Wright, though the studio have also announced that McKay will “contribute to the film’s script”.

Reed has previously directed the Jim Carrey-starring Yes Man, as well as Bring It On and The Break-Up.

Marvel have also released a synopsis for the movie;

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, Ant-Man will be released on 17 July 2015.
