Agent Carter Spinoff Confirmed; Agents of SHIELD Also Renewed

ABC have officially added another Marvel spinoff to their portfolio with the announcement that they have ordered a series based on Agent Carter.

Billed as Marvel’s Agent Carter, the series will focus on Peggy Carter, who appeared in the Captain America movies and her own Marvel One-Shot last year. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role, and it is understood that Dominic Cooper will also return, in a recurring role as Howard Stark. Michele Fazekas, Tara Butters, Steve McFeely, Christopher Marcus, and Jeph Loeb are on-board as executive producers.

ABC’s official description of the show reads;

“It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad.”

“Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.”

It is believed that the series will be shorter than usual, possibly running for no more than 13 episodes.

Additionally it was also confirmed that Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for a second series. Despite mixed reviews and falling ratings, the show was expected to be retained, and the series one finale will air in the US next week.
