Paul Bettany has reportedly signed on as The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Bettany – who is already a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark’s AI personal computing system JARVIS – is rumoured to be stepping out of the recording booth and in front of the camera for Joss Whedon’s superhero sequel. In the comics The Vision was originally created by Ultron to take down The Avengers, however he eventually ended up joining the group. No word yet on if Whedon will adhere to the source material for Vision’s part in the movie, or if Bettany will pull double-duty for Age of Ultron as Vision and JARVIS, though with Robert Downey Jr already having signed on for Avengers 2 and 3 it is extremely likely that if Iron Man appears, so will JARVIS.
