CM Punk has reportedly walked out on WWE and has no plans to return.
PWInsider are reporting that following a meeting backstage at Raw on Monday Punk has been pulled from all live event advertising and is “no longer factored into company plans”.
It is believed that Punk’s decision is not due to injury but instead due to burnout and overall dissatisfaction with the current direction of the company. He has previously been very vocal about the use of returning and “part-time” stars being used in prominent positions around WrestleMania time in favour of wrestlers working a full-time schedule. Sources say that Punk was not in a good mood backstage at Royal Rumble on Sunday, though this is not uncommon.
The site claims that Punk’s decision on Monday resulted in the Raw script having to be re-written less than two hours before the start of the show. Those rewrites included possibly changing the planned Punk Vs Triple H match at WrestleMania 30, instead going with Daniel Bryan Vs Triple H.
Punk’s contract with WWE expires in July and it was not a guarantee that he would have re-signed with the company.
