Paul Walker has passed away, his team has confirmed.
The 40-year old actor, best known for starring in the Fast and the Furious franchise, died outside Los Angeles. Shortly after the announcement the internet began claiming the death was a hoax, but this has since proved to be untrue with a tweet and post going out on the actor’s official Facebook and Twitter feeds.
According to initial reports, Walker was a passenger in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree. The car then burst into flames. The driver, who was said to have been a friend of Walker’s, was also killed in the wreck.
The accident occurred in Santa Clarita, an area north of Los Angeles. Walker was reportedly at a car show in support of the Philippines typhoon relief effort and was taking pals out for drives in the new Porsche GT. It was said that the crash happened during one of those runs.
The actor, who has a 15-year-old daughter named Meadow, was in the middle of filming scenes for the latest Fast and Furious film when he passed away.
