Ben Kingsley has dropped some hints about his mystery Marvel project.
Kingsley, who appeared as actor Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3, revealed last month that he had signed on for a secret project, with speculation coming shortly after that he would in fact be appearing in a Marvel One-Shot featuring the real Mandarin confronting Slattery over his portrayal in association with Aldrich Killian. And Kingsley, speaking to Vanity Fair, did little to dampen those rumours.
“I think it may be seen as . . . sometimes [Marvel] tacks on a short film to one of their other releases, maybe on a DVD or something. I haven’t heard anything at all about this. So it’s in progress. It will have to remain under wraps. Marvel was so brilliant in the way they kept the transition from the Mandarin to Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3. They were absolutely brilliant at it. I so respect the way they dearly want to surprise their audiences. But we will just have to leave it in the realm of rumor.”
With Thor: The Dark World hitting US cinemas this week, that puts a Blu-ray/DVD release at sometime in the middle of next year. Could a Mandarin face-off be the One-Shot on that release?
