The official tie-in videogame for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been confirmed.
Developed by Beenox – who worked on the original Amazing Spider-Man, as well as Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time – the game offers an alternative storyline to the upcoming movie, and will feature new foes, old friends and the free-roaming New York City that was seen in the first game.
There is also a new ‘Hero or Menace’ system that offers incentives for crime-fighting skills, and consequences for allowing criminal activity to occur.
Beenox head Thomas Wilson has spoken about the game;
“The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies. And the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges and more freedom to progress.”
“And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and 3DS, and will be released alongside the movie next year.
