Guillermo Del Toro directs The Simpsons intro

Guillermo Del Toro has directed the opening to the latest Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons.

The Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth helmer was invited to add his own touch to the famous couch gag intro, and came up with the above video.

So, how many movie references did you spot? Notice the Jaeger and Kaiju from Pacific Rim fighting in the background near the beginning? How about Mrs Krabappel taking Tippi Hendren’s place in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds? You must have seen Bart’s chalkboard gag aping The Shining, with writer Stephen King also making an appearance.

There are a whole host more, so why don’t you take to the Comments section below and tell us what other movie references you saw.
