Apple confirm iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner

Apple have confirmed that the new iPhone 5S will come with a fingerprint scanner.

Called Touch ID, the sensor is built into the home button and is 170 microns thin, with a 500 ppi resolution and scans sub-epidermal skin layers. It also has 360-degree readability.

A stainless steam detection ring is around the phone’s home button, and that ring will actually detect your finger is on the button, meaning you don’t have to press the button itself.
