A teaser trailer for Squirrels has debuted.
The horror film has actually yet to raise the adequate funds required for full production, but a teaser has been produced and released.
The clip shows a young girl and her grandmother walking in a park, with the young girl approaching a friendly-looking squirrel with a nut. When the youngster gets close, the rodent leaps onto her and attacks, with the grandmother rushing over and pulling the squirrel off. The trailer ends with a swarm of squirrels coming down from the trees.
Timur Bekmambetov, who directed Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, is reported to be raising funds for the project, which has a somewhat unique plot.
“When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mum’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.”
The movie has a tagline of, inevitably, .Hold Onto Your Nuts’.
