Kevin Smith has revealed that Batman star Ben Affleck once constructed a Batcave entrance in his house.
Smith, speaking on the Hollywood Babble-On podcast, admitted that he found out about the hidden extra when he purchased the house.
“I was like, ‘No! You built a f**king Batcave?’ And he was like, ‘No I built a Batcave entrance!’ When you went in behind the bookcase it was a panic room.”
Smith, who has worked with Affleck on six films in the past, also praised his friend’s casting as the Dark Knight, admitting the actor has a long-lasting affection for the DC character.
“He’s always been into the notion. He’ll honour the character. I honestly think the dude’s a great actor, it makes absolute sense. This dude has been to the bottom, then he clawed his way back to respectability. Argo won ‘Best Picture’ this year. He’s been to the bottom, been to the top – I don’t think he’s looking for a return to the bottom.
“For him, I think he thinks it’s a good move.”
Affleck was last week confirmed to play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel – rumoured to be titled Superman vs Batman – which is due for release on July 17 2015.
