William Shatner Wants Star Trek TV Return

William Shatner has suggested that there should be a new TV series of Star Trek.

The veteran actor believes that a new series of the sci-fi story would provide fans with an alternative to the “majesty” of the movie series.

Speaking to NerdBastards, Shatner said:

“JJ Abrams has found the key to getting a large audience into the movie theatre, and that’s the ride. So you get a lot of the CGI effects, which is the epic movie-making aspect of today.

“That’s in order to get you into the theatre, because the majesty of the movie is shown by the large screen. But when you get into the small screen, you need stories – entertaining, interesting, vital stories…stories that have a philosophy and also an excitement about them. Those were the best of Star Trek, those kinds of stories. That kind of imaginative approach that stirs young people into wanting to be connected with science.”

Star Trek Into Darkness was recently voted by fans as the worst Star Trek film. A third movie is expected to be released in 2015.

  1. I completely agree with Shatner. Star Trek was always at its best with a great story over cgi.
