gamescom: Little Big Planet Hub Announced

Sony have announce that a free version of Little Big Planet is headed to the PlayStation 3 called Little Big Planet Hub.

This free edition of LBP gives you access to a rocket pod and a range of content for free. Extra content for Little Big Planet & LBP 2 will also be made available to purchase in LBP Hub, at present it’s not been revealed just how much this will cost, though Sony have said that you’ll be able to purchase extra “through a variety of options”.

Current owners of Little Big Planet & LBP 2 will be able to import their profile and unlock every piece of content purchased for those two games (though it’s not clear if Sony means DLC or all content in both games).

For those interested, here’s what you can pick up in the base version:

  • A brand new level chock full of goodies to collect, exclusive to Little Big Planet HUB.
  • Free access to the first worlds from both Little Big Planet and Little Big Planet 2. That’s 16 free levels and all the goodies and costumes contained within are yours to collect and keep.
  • Unrestricted access to Little Big Planet’s Create Mode and a full range of tools from both titles to create your very own levels.
  • The Little Big Planet Team Picks. Our weekly updated collection of some of our favorite community levels. That’s more than 500 levels at the moment and growing each week!
  • Exciting Weekly Challenges. A whole new way to play Little Big Planet.

Little Big Planet Hub is will come to the PlayStation 3 later this year.
