Earls Court, London, September, this is the setting for the biggest Eurogamer Expo yet! If you’re a gaming resident of the South UK then you may be in the same boat as me of wanting to go to a large Expo to view the next generation video games and consoles but not having the ability (or the money) to travel to big shows like Comic-Con, PAX, Gamescon, this is why the EuroGamer Expo is your savoir. Starting from Thursday the 26th September and running to Sunday the 29th Eurogamer invades London at Earls Court and just to show how big this is, they’ve opened up more space than last year.
If like many of us at The Palace of Wisdom you are making the trip then you are in for some some amazing treats (other than possibly meeting our team that is), as there is a massive live up for you to see/touch/play/try to run away with before being tackled by security, so read on and allow your gaming appetite to become wetter in anticipation of the 26th September with our hot picks.
Yes that’s right, Sony’s PlayStation 4 will be available to play this years Eurogamer Expo. It’s been revealed that this will be the first ever time in the UK that the shiny PS4 will be playable. if you’re on the fence about what console you’d want to purchase in the next generation of gaming then this is your perfect opportunity to get a hands-on demo and use it towards your decision.
We advise getting in early to ply because you better believable there will be a massive queue for this one.
Holly origin stories Batman… it’s a prequel to Arkham Asylum and we’re are all completely stoked from what we’ve seen so far. Taking the bold move of stepping away from Rock steady, the studio that had created the first two Arkham titles and handing over to Warner Bros. Games Montreal, a studio that worked on the Wii U port title Batman: Arkham City – Armored Edition, fans were understandably nervous for this upcoming title. From all accounts by press thus far our worries can be put to rest as Arkham Origins is the real deal.
Offering the same style of action and detail we’ve become accustomed to and keeping that same free-roam action seen in City and then give us this amazing looking 3-on-3-on-2 multiplier that pits villain against villain and then both against hero… Batman: Arkham Origins is any Bat-fan’s wet dream.
Following on from last years big seller Assassin’s Creed III being met with rather underwhelming reviews, Black Flag looks to be shaping up nicely by mixing things up a bit. Gone is the story of Desmond and the forward progression of time and now players are put in the shoe’s on an Absergo employee who has been tasked with taking control of Edward Kenway, the Grandfather of Ratonhnhaké:ton (Conner from AC3).
With a more open world feel and a larger emphasis on exploration (not to mention the ability to hunt Wales), Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will sure be one to watch at the Expo.
Need for Speed titles tend to be a bit hit and miss with fans of late, especially when you see some of the risks taken with titles like The Run, but following last year’s efforts it looks safe to say the the NFS series is back on track.
Rivals will follow a similar path to Hot Pursuit, putting players in control of exotic sports cars and using them to outrun the police’s efforts. If you played last year’s Need for Speed title Most Wanted, then you know this is likely to be a damn good Nitrous fueled racing adventure.
Speaking of a racing titles…
Ubisoft’s new effort to throw their hat into the action racer ring with EA is The Crew, an open-world title that allows player to drive across the good ol’ US of A to participate in races and gain a reputation for winning.
With the next generation of racers including Drive Club and Forza 4, it ‘s good to see new titles that aren’t so heavy on simulation.
Yes it’s another LEGO title but two reasons why this is a recommended pick; it’s a next generation title and it’s freakin’ Marvel! following in a similar style to LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (including open-world gameplay), Marvel Super Heroes puts you in control of some of the biggest heroes & villains on and off of the pages.
Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America and not to mention Deadpool in tiny tiny LEGO form? We’re in!
How do you improve a game about killing Nazis? You kill future Nazis. Wolfenstein: The New Order puts you in control once again of series protagonist William “B.J.” Blazkowicz in a world where the past has been altered to create a future that should never have been (sounds cool huh?).
Under development from MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks, this could be a good one.
Another piece of tech, the Oculus Rift has been doing the rounds everywhere it seems and now is your chance to try the latest in home VR Entertainment.
With titles like Surgeon Simulator & Team Fotress 2 Avalible to use with the Rift, not to mention the upcoming Among the Sleep in the works, you need to try this for yourselves.
So there you have it, that’s a few hot picks there for you to go get your hands on by coming to this year’s EuroGamer Expo, which you can do by ordering tickets right here.
