Rivendell to Gotham? Bloom for Batman

Superman Batman Header

Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom is the “hot favourite” to land the role of Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel and mooted Justice League film.

The Daily Express are quoting a “senior source” who claims that Bloom is odds-on to get the role as the Caped Crusader:

“Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads.”

Henry Cavill is already on board to reprise his role as Superman in the sequel, and is expected to – if he hasn’t already – sign on for the Justice League movie as well.

The Man of Steel sequel is due for release Summer 2015.

  1. Hasn’t got the look, the physique, the acting ability, the voice, need I go on. Bad choice if they go with him

  2. Sorry mike I disagree. I think bloom would make an awesome batman. He would also appeal more to the female market. I didn’t enjoy man of steel, but would go to watch superman v batman if it contained Orlando bloom :/

    • Bloom has no business putting on the cowl of The Dark Knight, he has the wrong look, build, personality and face it, he’s hardly the most intimidating actor in the world. It would be like casting Justin Bieber as Indiana Jones or Taylor Lautner as Conan… it just doesn’t work.
Now maybe you can have old ‘Calcium Kid’ playing Terry McGuiness (Batman Beyond) or Dick Grayson (Knight Wing), that’s a big maybe and it would have been about 10-15 years ago.

  3. The female market does not need to be appealed to. It’s Batman, to hell with the female market on this one! Keep elves away from Batman. We want Bat-Hamm!

    • He can’t act, he has a high pitch mono-tone voice and tbh the large majority of the fanbase they’re going for on this one are either male or enjoy the character too much to see it ruined by eye candy that can’t act. Hamm all the way

  4. The female market is 50% of cinema visitors, and what’s wrong with elves ?????

    • Any female fan that loves the films would not want to see the character ruined by bringing in an inferior actor just because he might look nice. It’s a bad call by Warner and DC.

    • Do you have facts to back up those statistics, because I beg to differ. Especially with Batman films.

And there is nothing wrong with elves, per se. Just as long as they are kept far away from Gotham.

    • Fair play guys you win lol

  5. He’s a wonderful actor, extremely talented.

    • But he would be an awful Bruce Wayne, and a terrible Batman.

      • He doesn’t have the right physical strength or build to pull it off, you’re never going to be able to bulk him up realistically for the role. Batman is supposed to look good but also a little mean, that’s why Clooney was a bad choice and Val Kilmer struggled. It would be like casting Burt Ward as Batman back in the day.

  6. On the up side this debate is perfect for testing the comments part of the new app version I’m creating 🙂
