For those of us that use the train, and sometimes find ourselves propping our heads against the window for a little nap, you may soon start hearing voices.
The German arm of Sky are looking into a new method of advertising that would literally send it into the heads of passengers. The joint venture, between Sky Deutschland and advertising agency BBDO, being called Talking Window, would see the act of a commuter resting their head against a window triggering an advert, which would use bone conduction technology to pass sound to the inner ear using vibrations. This is similar to the audio hardware used in Google Glass.
BDO spokesperson Ulf Brychcy has spoken of the plans:
“If our customer Sky Deutschland agrees, we will start with the new medium as quickly as possible. Some people don’t like advertising in general. But this is really a new technology. [It might] not only be used for advertising, but also for music, entertainment, mass transport information, weather reports and so on.”
Sky have yet to make an official decision on whether to launch the scheme or not.
