At the San Diego Comic-Con, Namco Bandai announced a high definition update to Soulcalibur 2, which was released for Xbox, Gamecube, and PlayStation 2 back in 2003. Soulcalbur 2 is often considered one of the best in the series, so the news should be popular with longtime Soulcalibur fans.
According to Polygon the remake, officially titled Soulcalibur 2 HD Online, will include all of the original game modes and characters. However the jury is still out on the bonus characters. Originally Todd McFarlane’s Spawn was exclusive to the Xbox, Link from the Legend of Zelda was on the Gamecube version, and Heihachi from Tekken appeared on the PS2 version. So far only Tekken’s Heihachi has been spotted. Considering the game has only been announced for the PS3 and Xbox 360, it is unlikely that Link would be included. While the game obviously features online play, it is unclear if it is limited to just versus battle or if every mode such as team battle will be playable online.
Soulcalibur 2 HD Online is due to be released this fall. Check out the trailer above for a sneak peak on how Soulcalibur 2 looks in HD.
