Grand Theft Auto V could go on to become the biggest-selling game of all-time, a market researcher has predicted.
Dorian Bloch, who works for Chart-Track, told MCV that the title could overtake Call of Duty: Black Ops, given the pre-release interest in the game.
“Many people have forgotten the effect GTA 4 had on the market back in Q2 2008. It sold just under a million units in its first week – only four Call of Dutys and one FIFA game have done better. More impressive still is the fact that it sold to almost one-third of the entire PS3/360 installed base at that time, in just one week.”
Black Ops sold 2 million units in it’s first week of release, while the top-grossing game is Modern Warfare 3, taking a total of £83 million in it’s first week.
Grand Theft Auto V will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17.
