Xbox announce public beta with local currency payments

Xbox Dashboard Header

Were you one of the people happy with Microsoft’s announcement that MS Points are being retired? Well if you were, you may be interested in the public beta now available on the home hub of your Xbox.

A Xbox Beta Program tile will be visible right now on your hub, and once you register, you will be able to make lovely Microsoft purchases with actual currency instead of MS Points. Users in all 41 Xbox Live countries (except Japan) have this option. Space is limited, so if you are interested in taking part, you’ll need to hurry.

The change was confirmed during the Xbox One announcements in June, and while it was not announced when the Points system will end, it’s expected to be around November time, when the Xbox One goes on sale. At that point, any users with remaining Points will have them converted into currency “equal to or greater than the marketplace value”.
