Information and screenshots have been released of Marvel’s latest One-Shot, featuring Peggy Carter.
The short film will focus on the Agent Carter character in the aftermath of Captain America: The First Avenger, and her continued work with the burgeoning S.H.I.E.L.D. organisation and the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). There will also apparently be some surprising cameo appearances by characters from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
As with The First Avenger, Dominic Cooper will again appear as Howard Stark, serving as a connective thread between Iron Man 3 and the Cap sequel, The Winter Soldier. Marvel Studios co-president and director Louis D’Esposito has been speaking about the short, giving us more information on what Carter will be doing, and who – or what – in particular she will be chasing.
“It’s a year since Cap plunged into the ocean. And in our mind, we said there’s a few SSR offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the OSS, the precursor to the CIA. The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac.”
“Zodiac in the books has been many many different things. We just want you to know it’s deadly, it’s important, bad guys are guarding it, and it’s imperative she gets it.”
As well as the continued chase of Zodiac, Carter also has to deal with a sexist boss, played by The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford.
“He knows her background but insults her by saying the only reason why she’s gotten anywhere is because she was the girlfriend of Captain America. We know that’s not true, but he’s intentionally suppressing her and not allowing her to go on a mission when the opportunity arises.”
