First Trailer for WWE 2K14

As probably well documented on this here little site, I’m not only an avid fan of Professional Wrestling but probably a bigger fan of Wrestling videogames.  Over the years, the WWE series has really come along way, going from a slow run-around-the-ring punching style to a more arcade beat-em-up fighter style, until reaching it’s logical modern day simulation  style of gameplay.

Ever since the WWE had partnered up with THQ, the games has seemed to have moved away from massive differences in mechanics to more of a ‘fine-tuning’ of features and functions to allow not just for a television to console port of your favorite Lycra laced shows, but also a fully customisable experience to bring you into the action with the ability to craft Wrestlers, moves, arenas, championship titles and even your own shows.

After THQ’s unfortunate bankruptcy and liquidation in November last year, Take-Two Interactive picked up the WWE ball to play with and are gearing up for their first title in the WWE addition to the 2K series… WWE 2K14.

Well 2K Games have now released their first trailer for WWE 2k14 and it features the usual John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Steve Austin & a pinch of CM Punk, who are all joined by new additions (that until now have only been available via DLC); Ryback and Randy Savage.

On first appearance I’d have to say the there is no noticeable graphical change but following on from THQ’s style it’s the new features and technical improvements that we need to look out for.

WWE 2k14 is set for release from the 29th October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. For more information, head on over to the WWE 2K site.

So what do you think from first impressions? Are you looking forward to another WWE title? do you think 2K is a good fit? What new features and Wrestlers are you hoping to see in this incarnation? Let us know in the comments below.
