Warner Bros. have released the first teaser trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

The 2-minute clip features the cast of the first film, as well as Evangeline Lilly’s Tauriel, and Orlando Bloom’s Legolas, who is appearing in the film despite the character not actually being in the book. Tauriel also does not appear in the original source material and has been created for the film.

The trailer ends with our first shot of Smaug the dragon, who will be voiced and acted (via motion capture) by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be released on December 13.
