It has been claimed that Microsoft were recently in “advanced negotiations” to purchase tech rival Nokia.
A report in the Wall Street Journal states the Microsoft were in talks to buy Nokia’s handset business, but talks fell apart following concerns about Nokia’s failing market position, as well as the asking price.
A Nokia spokesman told the newspaper;
“We have a deep partnership with Microsoft, and it is not uncommon for Nokia and Microsoft to meet on a regular basis.”
It hasn’t been revealed how much Nokia were asking for the sale. Nokia’s stock market value in the US is currently at more than $14 billion, and out of it’s $40 billion revenue last year nearly half of it came from the mobile phone part of the business.
