Instagram today released a major update to their iOS and Android apps, with the addition of video recording.
The Facebook-owned company have made the changes to make the app a clear competitor to social media video recording app Vine. The software will now let you record up to 15 seconds of video by clicking a new icon that now appears next to the standard shutter icon. Users will be able put together clips of footage on their device which can then be edited using new filters added. The video filters have different names than the existing photo filters.
There is also a cinema mode included, helping to stabilise the clips. The videos will play within the Instagram stream, and can also be watched online.
