E3: Mega Man and others coming to Super Smash Bros

Nintendo have revealed that Mega Man will be introduced into the Super Smash Bros. franchise, which is due to debut on Wii U and 3DS next year.

During the company’s E3 briefing this morning, footage was displayed that showed the iconic character – complete in classic ‘Blue Bomber’ iteration – along with Mega Buster, several Robot Master abilities, and his dog Rush.

Mega Man was not the only new character to be featured during the presentation, however, as ‘The Villager’ from Animal Crossing was also shown. He has the ability to not only dig pits to trap his enemies, but also to chop down trees to damage them. Both Mega Man and The Villager will be accompanied by stages from their respective franchises.

Additionally, Nintendo also confirmed the return of other classic characters, such as  Mario, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Pit, Bowser and Princess Peach. Stages from the game that were revealed included a level set on the train from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Mega Man’s Dr. Wily Stage, an Animal Crossing location, and a Nintendogs level.
