Doctor Strange to be Marvel’s new star franchise?

Some new rumours have come out concerning Marvel’s cinematic future, and you are going to like it if you’re a fan of Doctor Strange.

Comic Book Movie are reporting that studio bosses are planning on making the Doctor the new ‘hub’ character going into Phase 3 and beyond. The website quote a source with “intimate knowledge of the Doctor Strange development”, who tells them that Marvel have realised that they need a new main character to combat over-familiarity on existing characters.

“What I can say is that Strange is being groomed to be the next Iron Man. The studio needs a new ‘hub’ character going into Phase 3 and beyond, as there is audience fatigue, aging stars and a need to move from Tony Stark/Iron Man as a ‘hub’ for films.”

They go on to say that Strange will be the focal point of the next phase of the Cinematic Universe, much the same as Tony Stark/Iron Man has done previously. It is also expected that whoever is eventually cast as Doctor Strange would need to sign one of Marvel’s patented multi-picture deals.
