The new Xbox One console will not function without the Kinect connected, Microsoft have confirmed.
IGN are reporting that at a Microsoft-hosted event held in London for the console reveal, the company’s UK marketing director Harvey Eagle revealed the news.
“Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes.”
He was also asked if the requirement will allow people to play the in other rooms other than their living room.
“We use the living room almost as a moniker – that’s where we assume the best screen is in the house. But if you like to play in any other room in the house, the Xbox One will deliver the same quality of experience whatever the environment.”
Seeing as the current Kinect doesn’t play well in smaller spaces, this would indicate that the technology has been improved to now allow this.
